Frequently Asked Questions

What is an estate sale?

An estate sale is typically a sale of all the property owned by an individual.  Usually this involves the contents of a home.  In some cases this may also include other items like vehicles.

What is done to prepare

for an estate sale?

You remove the items that you would like to keep and we will do the rest.  We take care of the preparation and planning that takes place before the sale. We bring in tables, set up and arrange all the items being sold.  We will price each item, handle on line marketing, and put out signs in the area advertising the sale.

How is the home protected?

We adequately staff each sale and insure that small and expensive items are secured and watched at all times.  We close off rooms that are not to be entered and use signed to warn people of stairs, etc.

How are the sale items priced?

We price things keeping several things in mind.  The most important one being, what will it sell for?  Many things that may be in excellent condition are just not popular or in high demand.  While another item might not look all that great and needs a lot of work, but it will sell for a high price.  We will fairly price all items.  We want to maximize your return, but if we over price things, nothing will sell and you will be left with many things after the sale.  That would not help you or P & L. Our reputation is on the line as well.  People will not come to our sales if they think that our pricing is not fair.  Also, just as in real estate, location matters.

Can I conduct the sale myself?

Yes you may.  We can customize a plan for you where we will set up and prepare for your sale but you actually run it.  Honestly, we do not recommend this for several reasons.  One, we have experience in dealing with all kinds of stuff that may come up during the sale.  From having adequate staffing, processing credit cards, and dealing with minor issues that pop up with customers.  We have the experience to handle each situation professionally and with care.

Can I attend my estate sale?

Most of our clients choose not to attend the sale.  Many will do a walkthrough beforehand to see everything in place. Sometimes it makes customers feel uncomfortable. This is often an emotional time for people and the sale of  your property is better left to professionals who have no emotional or sentimental attachment as you do.
